2024 MLB Playoff Predictions

Well, today is the first day of October as well as the first day of the 2024 MLB Playoffs.  I'm not quite sure why this isn't a national holiday yet, but we will celebrate with unbridled enthusiasm nonetheless!

Thankfully, the Yankees have the #1 overall seed in the AL, thus earning themselves a 1st round bye and some time to rest the guys after another grind of 162 regular season games.  If yesterday's Mets-Braves doubleheader was a preview of playoff atmosphere and intensity, we can only brace ourselves for what's to come.

With that said, we're looking forward to 4 games of playoff baseball today in the Wild Card round.

As mentioned earlier, the Yankees (1) have a bye as well as the Guardians (2) in the AL, along with the Dodgers (1) and Phillies (2) in the NL.  All four teams will play on Saturday and will face the winners of this week's best of three Wild Card series. 

Now on to the fun stuff where I pretend to be some kind of wizard with my predictions, but in reality, I'd probably be better using a dart board as my chief advisor.

 

WILD CARD ROUND

Tigers defeat Astros, 2-1

Orioles defeat Royals, 2-1

Brewers defeat Mets, 2-0

Padres defeat Braves, 2-0

 

DIVISION SERIES

 

Guardians defeat Tigers, 3-2

Yankees defeat Orioles, 3-2

Brewers defeat Phillies, 3-2

Padres defeat Dodgers, 3-1

 

LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Yankees defeat Guardians, 4-2

Brewers defeat Padres, 4-3

 

WORLD SERIES

Yankees defeat Brewers, 4-2

 

Well, there you have it.  Only a few hours before my predictions get roasted like chestnuts on an open fire.  Regardless, THIS IS OUR YEAR and nothing can stop us!  When the Yankees are celebrating up Broadway and through the Canyon of Heroes, make sure to keep an eye out for the old wizard!
